Gold Pip Value Calculator

Find out what each pip of gold is worth at your lot size. For XAU/USD, most brokers treat a $0.10 move in price as one pip, so one standard lot of 100 oz makes or loses $10 per pip.

    Pip Value Calculator

Calculate the value of a single pip in USD.

    How to use it

    1. Pick XAU/USD, or a forex pair for comparison.
    2. Enter your lot size. 0.01 is a micro lot and 1.00 is a standard lot.
    3. Read the dollar value of one pip.

    The formula

    Gold pip value = lots × 100 oz × $0.10

    So 1 lot = $10 per pip, and a $1 move (10 pips) = $100

    Worked example

    At 0.50 lots, one pip is 0.50 × 100 × $0.10 = $5.

    A $12 move in gold is 120 pips, so 120 × $5 = $600.

    Good to know

    • Not every platform calls $0.10 a pip. Some count $0.01 (a "point") and some count $1, so a "20 pip" stop can mean different distances. Thinking in dollars of price avoids the confusion.
    • Gold is quoted in US dollars, so the pip value of XAU/USD is in dollars at any exchange rate. For an account in another currency, convert at the current rate.
