How to use it
- Choose buy or sell.
- Enter the entry and exit prices.
- Enter the lot size.
- Read the profit or loss in dollars and the move in pips.
The formula
Buy: P/L = (exit − entry) × 100 × lots
Sell: P/L = (entry − exit) × 100 × lots
Pips = |exit − entry| ÷ $0.10
Worked example
Buy 0.50 lots at 4,150.00 and sell at 4,165.00: a $15 move, or 150 pips.
$15 × 100 × 0.50 = $750 profit.
The same move against a short of the same size is a $750 loss.
Good to know
- The result is before spread, commission and overnight swap. Gold swaps can be large, so a position held for days costs more than this shows.
